YALE ’56 Mini-Reunion
WASHINGTON BEYOND THE MALL
April 23-26, 2009

Dear Classmate and Friends,

Your response to our July “save-the-date” letter was terrific.  From the enclosed list you can see that 111 classmates and companions plan to attend the Washington Mini-Reunion next April. It is only five months before the flowers of April, time for formal registration so we can make firm plans for the event.  We have pegged the cost for the four days of reunion activities and meals at $645 as listed on the enclosed schedule.  (Hotel and travel expenses are extra.)

Look over the schedule of activities for the reunion, from the opening reception on Thursday, April 23, to the farewell brunch on Sunday morning, April 26.  The entire class will gather for dinners at the Cosmos Club on Friday and a Caucus Room at the Capitol on Saturday.

During the day on Friday and Saturday we have selected a number of options—visits to the Capitol and the recently restored National Portrait Gallery and Smithsonian American Art Museum, the National Gallery of Art, sites important to President Lincoln, the new Mt. Vernon presentations, a matinee performance of the musical Ragtime at the Kennedy Center, and a panel discussion about the challenges faced by the new administration.  Also, we have included a tour of the monuments of Washington for members who haven’t been here for years.  And on Saturday we will have Metro passes for those who want to go back to the Mall to see more of the Smithsonian museums and the monuments.

We are delighted about the amenities of the Hotel Palomar, 2101 P Street, NW, and have booked 35 rooms at the favorable rate of $269 per night for April 23-26.  As we mentioned, the location is convenient for shops, restaurants, galleries and Metro near Dupont Circle.

We recommend that you make your hotel reservation without delay because rooms will be available on a first-come, first-served basis:

If you plan to stay with friends or at another hotel, please let us know on the Reservation Form so we can be in touch during the weekend.

We look forward to welcoming you to our nation’s capital.
