U.S. Capitol
and new Visitor Center and the recently re-opened National Portrait Gallery
and the National Museum of American Art.

Washington’s
Monuments by Bus. A guided survey for newcomers or those who haven’t been
here in awhile, including stops at the Capitol and the following memorials:
Lincoln, Washington, World
War II, Iwo Jima, Viet Nam, Korean War, and FDR.

Lincoln’s
Little Known Washington (Visits to Ft. Stevens where Union troops
defeated Confederate General Jubal Early’s veterans before Lincoln’s eyes in
July, 1964; and to Lincoln’s restored Summer Cottage, where he spent about
one-third of his presidency and wrote the Emancipation Proclamation)
(Members may also visit the museums and monuments via Metro with provided
passes.) (9:00-12:00)

Mt. Vernon, an expedition
by bus to see the house, new interpretive displays, the distillery and
gardens (8:30-1:00)

Self-guided visits to
Smithsonian Museums, Galleries, and Monuments via Metro . Optional Events
available at various museums to be announced. Metro passes will
be provided. (all

Beatrix Ferrand’s iconic
Dumbarton Oaks Gardens in Georgetown and Tudor Place, nearby neoclassical
mansion completed in 1816 for Martha Washington’s granddaughter, Martha
Custis Peter, and lived in continuously by six Peter generations until 1983

Ragtime, a musical based on the 1975 novel by E. L. Doctorow.

A bus will
leave the hotel at 10:15 for those who wish to walk around the cathedral and
grounds and/or attend the 11:15 service.
