Reunion Committee Reports December, 2004 THE DATES FOR OUR 50TH ARE JUNE 1-4 2006. We don't yet know what college we will be in, but the dates are certain. On the Friday before the Princeton game the Reunion Steering Committee met. On that Saturday the Executive Committee met. There is general agreement about the outline of the program plans: We will look ahead in intellectual programs building on the past and present but looking to the future (after all, we're only in our 70's). The kind of programs we could contemplate (These are examples ONLY) could focus on such subjects as
You get the idea. Two or three of the programs will be for our class only, with Yale professors speaking and a panel of classmates commenting. Other panels will be organized by the University for all reunion classes. In addition, of course, there will be a '56 Whiff concert and a John Eaton concert. There is also the opportunity for excursions and tours. Do you want to visit the new science buildings? The art galleries? Where else? At this time I would like to ask you to help as we kick in out pre-reunion program. Bud Prince is our reunion chair, assisted in the program area by his usual committee aided by our two most recent past Class Secretaries — Tersh Boasberg and Ed Barlow. Please let any of them have your suggestions on all aspects of the planning and program. Those of you who have agreed to be on the national committee, would you please call the classmates in your area to advise them of the dates, to ascertain their thoughts on what they would like to see on the program-what would entice them back for the 50th? Also, if you sense any hesitation or receive a "hell no" response, try to find out if there are any factors, particularly financial, which are holding them back. If so, please let me know confidentially, and I'll see if we can help out. All of you are encouraged to contact friends and roommates to encourage them to save the June 1-4 dates in 2006. Those who live far away may want to start thinking of organizing to get group air fares. There are more exciting plans in the wings, ranging from a reverse fellowship to be awarded to one or more 56ers for their dream opportunity...and of course you will be hearing from Ben Scotch about the yearbook....but this is enough for now. Thank you all very much for your help. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with questions and concerns...and please pass on the comments and suggestions of your contacts. Just click on the names in yellow to initiate an email.
